“I’d love to be wrong about near-term human extinction, not to mention habitat loss for the many non-human species this culture gleefully drives to extinction. I’d love to believe the Sixth Mass Extinction is a myth. But I know better.” – Dr. Guy McPherson
If you chose the red pill, eschew the mainstream media and get your news online from a mix of independent sources inside and outside the US/UK, you probably don’t have a lot of close personal friends. Smile. Not to belabor the point or anything, but you probably also use trigger words like “facts,” “reality,” “logical,” or “capitalism”, consider yourself smarter than your phone, left or never used Facebook, and have been known to kill a conversation at twenty paces.
All of which makes you most welcome here at my column. Articles, book reviews and rants – mine and others’ – celebrate the living planet, excoriate the psychopaths purposefully murdering it for profit, and grieve the passing of life as we’ve known it. It’s a commentary about the wound following that single sentence in a chance conversation that slams the glass door between us and those still living in the capitalist fantasy world. It’s about the times we’re living through at The End of Life As We’ve Known It.
